Career Guidance / Aptitude Testing

Career Guidance is a scientific process, in which, through the use of a few standardized tests, the Career Counselor tries to assist a student in making effective career or vocational choices. Career guidance has become one of the most vital aspects of the modern world. With a myriad of career opportunities to choose from, career guidance comes as a real boon for students on their path towards choosing an apt career for themselves. Numerous students have been taking advantage of career guidance facilities worldwide.
Career guidance program is a very exhaustive process. It stretches over several hours and takes place in a few phases. During this process, the counsellor usually tries to evaluate a student on certain vital parameters such as, aptitude, intelligence, interest, personality, and study habits.
The first phase of the career guidance process is the “Aptitude Testing Program”, which involves evaluating a student on the parameters mentioned above.
The second phase is the reporting phase. This involves assimilation of the data gathered from the student and the test answers. This phase is where the counsellor actually uses his expertise and suggests appropriate career / vocational alternatives.
The third phase involves actual one-to-one career counselling session. In this session the student and parents get an opportunity to interact freely with the counsellor. This phase involves providing with detailed information about various career avenues open to that particular student. The counsellor may also make the student aware about the various areas which may need to improved or enhanced. All the doubts and queries raised by the student and the parents will be effectively resolved during this counselling session.
